PRENATAL YOGA
Pregnancy is one of the most sacred times in a woman’s life. Growing a child is mysterious and amazing. At times the process can be downright baffling. What was once your own becomes much more like a science experiment. Your body, feelings and brain are no longer yours alone. As you transform, yoga is a gentle and effective way of staying in-tune with your ever-changing body, emotions, hormones and mental state, while feeling at one with your creative energies.
- Our prenatal yoga class is a gentle, non-strenuous practice, designed to help bring balance to your body by finding its natural harmony with earth’s energy.
- Quiet contemplation at the beginning and end of class allows you much needed time to connect with yourself and your unborn child.
- Deep breathing encourages relaxation and tension relief both physically and mentally, while carrying important nutrients and oxygen to your fetus and yourself.
The grounding practice of yoga is helpful in preparing you for the demands of labor and delivery by incorporating breath with specific poses that use gravity to releases tension in the legs, pelvis, back and neck. Yoga is also useful in strengthening muscles, enhancing flexibility and instilling an innate sense of confidence in the body and birthing process so that your body can accommodate the changes of pregnancy with ease.
